EAL Program

SunnyBrook Meadows offers a new program using horses to help individuals and groups face life issues.

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a unique method of interaction that uses the dynamic of the horse to help address life issues faced by everyone. EAL brings about group synergy in problem solving while individual roles and difficulties emerge and are addressed.

Edna Riddell has recently earned certification in EAL. Mr. Greg Kersten presented the training in Washington, PA at New Coventry Equestrian Center. Kersten is the founder of Equine Assisted Psycotherapy (EAP), the President of Equine Services, Inc. and Founder of the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGLA). As the owner of O.K. Corral, L.L.C., Mr. Kersten has over 20 years’ experience working in adult and youth correctional facilities and treatment programs. Having served as front-line counselor, addictions counselor, supervisor, and director in various programs, Greg specializes in working with especially challenging or violent clients.

SunnyBrook Meadows is proud to offer the EAL program to the community. These techniques will add a new dimension to the existing therapeutic program as it is highly effective for youth programs, residential homes and summer programs, as well as individuals and families.
